All men carry a hammer. Some use it to build while others use it to destroy. Nowadays, a lot of men choose to destroy.
But if you care about raising world changers, then I know you want to raise your sons to use their hammers to build. You want them to help heal hearts, not break as many as they can, especially when it comes to their interactions with girls.
Training your son to respect and protect women starts at an early age. If you allow your son to disrespect his mother or be harsh with his sisters, the chances are high that he will not naturally grow out of that.
Folly is bound up in the heart of a child. That’s why training must be intentional. He needs to see his father do it first.
Dads, do your sons see you show regular affection to your wife or do they see you raise your voice at her? Do your sons see you deal gently with your daughter’s tender emotions? Do they see you treat other women with courtesy without even a hint of impropriety? Do they see you protect women from potential danger, insults, and undesired advances?
As men, we are protectors. God wired us that way. But unless someone trains us to build and defend, the world will teach us to destroy. You have a hammer. Show your son how to use it.
